MilTrans ™ Applications for Smart Phones: A Cost-Effective Alternative

Background

• This software implements language translation technology using the Android operating system. The software can be adapted to any operating system.
• The phrase sets are based on those used in the combat-successful Voice Response Translator (VRT).
• These smart phone applications provide cost-effective solutions based on combat-proven technology when the ultra-hardened VRT hardware isn’t needed.
• General Military, Chem-Bio, Police, Navy/Coast Guard, Canadian Forces-specific phrases are available.

Applications and Missions:

These applications provide effective phrase-based, touch screen-driven language translation for routine military, medical and humanitarian interactions with foreign nationals.

Capability:

• The platform is effective for operations where users do not require the Voice Response Translator’s eyes-free, hands-free operation and ultra-rugged construction.
• Users can scroll rapidly through short “prompt phrases” for each translated file. To play a phrase, users simply touch the prompt phrase. To see a full text translation of the phrase, users simply press the “See Text” button.
• Users have instant access to approximately 350 phrases in over 50 languages (in the general military version). These phrases support general interaction with foreign nationals.

Software

These applications are based on the combat-proven systems produced by Integrated Wave Technologies, Inc.. Applications can be adapted for any operating system.

Hardware

Android handheld devices are required for the use of current software. For other hardware, IWT, Inc. can adapt per customer requirements.
